The Washington PTA raises funds annually to support our teachers and staff, create core memories for our students, and build our community. All funds raised will be used in the current 2024-2025 school year!
Our goal is to have 100% of our families participate in We’re Proud to Wildcats by donating at any amount that feels comfortable for them.
A few examples of the important work we plan to do this year includes:
- Field trips with local museums, science organizations and natural history sites. This year, students will visit the San Mateo History Museum, Elkus Ranch, Woodside Store, Sanchez Adobe Historic Rancho, and many more!
- The Roar weekly newsletter and an updated Wildcat PTA website to keep you informed about what’s happening at school.
- Classroom supplies like pencils, paper, erasers, dry erase markers, art supplies, day planners, homework folders, and more, as well as a flex fund for each teacher to support special projects.
- Building community through events like Multicultural Night, Variety Show, WamJam and Field Day.
- Special Assemblies for all students such as Principles of Hip Hop by Young Audiences of NorCal, Wild Mind Science’s Spirit of the Rainforest, and Kohl Music’s Sound Impact.
- Staff appreciation activities, such as lunches and celebrations to thank our wonderful teachers and staff and to keep morale and teacher retention high.
All of these incredible activities are budgeted at over $94,000 for this year.
From now through Saturday October 19, 2024, you’ll be receiving communications from members of our school community telling you what makes them Proud to be a Wildcat!
The suggested donation is $250 per student and our goal is to have as many families give as possible, at any level.
All donations are tax-deductible and applicable for your company’s corporate match program.

WASHINGTON WINS THE CA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOLS AWARD!!!
Washington is the recipient of the 2023 CA Distinguished Schools Award. 356 of 5872 elementary schools received this award and we are excited to be counted as one of them.
According to the press release from the CA Department of Education, "The exceptional elementary schools recognized this year are illustrative of the hard work, dedication, and resilience shown by educators and schools across the state after communities struggled for multiple years with urgent effects to physical and mental health and unprecedented challenges to delivering education. To select California Distinguished Schools, the California Department of Education (CDE) uses multiple measures to identify eligible schools based on their performance on the state indicators as specified on the California School Dashboard (Dashboard). Specifically, schools were selected by analyzing data reported through the 2022 Dashboard, including assessment results, chronic absenteeism, suspension rates, and socioeconomic data. Information regarding the 2022 Dashboard is provided on the CDE California School Dashboard and System of Support web page." This absolutely captures the dedication, care, and energy that our faculty and community put toward supporting the teaching and learning of our Wildcat students every day.
Way to go Wildcats!!
